Original Songs, An All Female Female Band + Autumn in NY

There’s always something thrilling about Autumn in New York (not the song, although the song is gorgeous, especially with the voice of my idol, Billie Holiday)…the sun starts to release its hold and the air feels crisp with the sense of change and surprise.

I always enjoy that feeling of wonder and suspense. Maybe it’s what in inspiring me to try something new. I have always wanted to work with more female musicians, and there are so very many talented ones out there. All it took was a simple question via FaceBook post “Female bassists and drummers in NYC?” to get a flood of comments with names and from that, several threads of conversations going with musicians and hours spent watching video samples. SO inspiring!

So, this Friday September 24th, I plan to perform some songs that I wrote that have nothing to do with flamenco with these 3 amazing ladies.

Introducing:

Spain Travels

It's good to be home, but a part of myself always stays behind in Andalucia when I turn. Or maybe I bring it with me? I don't know…

The Spain part of the trip included Málaga, Marbella, Granada, Chiclana and Jerez de la Frontera, where some of my favorite purple in the world live. A moonlit concert at the exquisite Alhambra, Niña Pastori in a bullfight arena in Marbella, 3 different generations of flamenco singers in Jerez, and of course only the yummiest did and wine…Alas!

Back home now, I'm feeling inspired. If you're in NYC, save the date for a new event at the gorgeous Triad Theater on SUN, SEPT 16 @ 4:30PM. And if you can’t make that, come to Drom NYC on THURS, SEPT 30 @ 7PM.
