"Trash Bata" is a dance theater performance that transforms the iconic long train-skirt ("bata de cola") used by the female flamenco dancer into a trail of plastic trash that follows her everywhere like the environmental crisis affecting our world. This piece stretches the boundaries of flamenco and the play that has long existed between the dancer and that which weighs her down, chases her and continually reappears in a never-ending love/hate cycle. Key moments include audience participation, a reminder of the individual as part of a whole and the power that each person has to bring about change.
