Let me tell you a story about artist German Perez
Let me tell you a story:
Once upon a time, there was a man from a magical island called the Dominican Republic. He loved to draw and paint and even studied architecture. One day he moved to the bustling melting pot of the world, New York City, sharing his creativity and making art for four more decades. He created works of art so brilliant that they ended up in museums all over the world and in the homes of private collectors, like the little known dancer named Mikhai Baryshnikov. He was even selected as the official artist of the 2012 Latin GRAMMYS. By this time, he already had two beautiful children with his life partner. One of their children discovered flamenco dance when she was a little girl, first studying in her elementary school and later in private lessons at home. The flamenco teacher and the little girl’s parents became lifelong friends. Many years later, the flamenco teacher began writing music and when she released her compositions for the first time, she remembered her friend from the magical island. His paintings and drawings were so vibrant with colors and movement and they expressed the wonder and joy that reminded her of her songs. They agreed that the artist would make the cover art for the first album, “DAWN”. Everybody loved it so much that they decided he should make the cover art for the second album, “ALMA”.
The artist’s name is Germán Perez. It is an honor and a privilege to have his work connected with ALBA Musik. Germán’s wife is María Hinojosa, a trailblazing journalist who has been named three times now one of 100 Most Influential people by Hispanic Business Magazine. Their daughter -Yurema- and her love for flamenco, was the catalyst for it all!
