A Beautiful Video & Introducing ALBA MUSIK!

It has gotten busy again friends! And for me, my school-teaching duties ended yesterday with the graduation of my 5th graders, so it’s official, I’m ready for sumer 🌻

It's hard to believe but during the first months of the pandemic my friends, Adrián Alvarado and Andreas Arnold and I decided to arrange and record a gorgeous song called “Beatriz” by Edu Lobo and Chico Buarque. But Andreas moved to Spain and, well a year later we reconvene in NYC to restart the project. “Beatriz’ is a Brazilian song but we set it to the flamenco rhythm of bulerías with two guitars and yours truly.

Tragically, we had a fumble with the first recording session. It only got the first take and everything else was lost! 🙈

This location was so beautiful and green. It was a beautiful sunny day and we were in Adrian's backyard. I was so upset that we had not captured the best takes. Andreas had to get back to Spain, but just before he left we did a new session and will be sharing it with you soon. But I am getting ready to post the first take that we did in Adrian's backyard for my Patreons for the fun of it!

Also, I we recently wrapped up our newest live vinyls and will have them in our hands any days now for my lovely Patreons, as well as for sale at live shows.

This batch of music comes from my newest obsession, a brand new project centered on a partnership with guitarist/composer Albert Alabedra and which we are calling ALBA Musik.

Because ALBA (which means ‘dawn’ in SPANISH) is when light bursts through the darkness again, it seemed right to describe the intention behind this music. I didn’t set out to write songs that are healing and uplifting. But it sure came out that way. We are playing these songs at our live gigs every chance we get, and the feeling that we get from the audience is incredible. It’s hard to put into words how inspiring this is for both of us.

So much more is to come with ALBA Musik and we hope you check it out! (@albamusik)
